With the way kids are raised these days it is hard to tell. Either way it is the grandfather’s fault for not having the thing under lock and key.
The “spirit” I was referring to was the fact that he was not gonna allow someone to steal from him. Not the fact that he was too young to know the difference between a joke and a real hold up. If the kid was/is taught correctly he could grow up to be Bernie Geotz. It is all in teaching the kid and that was the grandfather’s responsibilty. Grandpa needs to improve.
More likely he grows up to be an impulsive heedless young man who never imagines the consequences of his actions, and shoots someone dead over a trivial slight.
He has no sense of reality or responsibility about a death-dealing instrument, and either no ability to read people, or no common sense about the appropriate reaction.
If they published his name, we could make a ten year bet on him.
I’m not saying he should be sent to jail - he should be released to his parents, taken behind the woodshed, made to dig ditches or chop wood, lose his electronics for half a year and apologize to the woman he threatened. If his parents respond properly, he might just grow up decent.
