Libya's interim authorities have named Tripoli academic Abdurrahim al-Keib as the new prime minister.
The National Transitional Council (NTC) made the announcement days after declaring the country "liberated" following the death of Colonel Gaddafi.

It seems a very strange start to post-Gaddaffi Libya - an american educated electrical engineer. I dont know, maybe he can hold it all together. I wouldn’t have thought that he has much time to stabilise things though.

A number of expats went back to fight, so I’m not surprised.
Most people didn’t understand, but I think the announcement last week of abiding by shariah law was part of trying to stabilize things. The people are familiar with it, so rather than trying to institue new laws and regulations for a temporary gov’t, it made more sense to continue with shariah and have local order kept by local clergy.
The people can vote later in the elections what changes they want to make.
