You can see the students in the south end zone begin to come together in an effort to distract the kicker.
Ill's kicker is one of the best in the country. He's usually automatic.
You can’t get fans to your stadium because of snow? That’s sad.
40,000 fans didn’t show up because it snowed? 40,000?
Fairy Guy?
Faulty Gun?
Foolish Grandma?
Failed Golfers?
Fracking Geologists?
Foolish Goofballs?
Funny Girls?
Foamy Giants?
Dang, man! Be specific!
That game was won a few plays before the kick — on a phantom, BAILOUT-HOMEJOB pass interference call.
No way did that play warrant that call, especially when it really was the difference in the ballgame.
Cars were sliding off the road all over the place and at one point a big 18 wheel tanker truck in front of us and stopped because of the snarled traffic, started sliding backward and right toward us. My husbands friend said, nows the time to see how good your four wheel vehicle really is. We also witnessed a large camper that caught on fire and we were stuck behind it for over an hour. By the time a fire truck got there, all that was left was a smoldering pile of ash. We were only about an hour from Penn State but it took us five hours to get into town. It was one of the scariest drives Ive ever been on.
The snow squalls and bitter temps along with 40 mph wind gusts continued through game day. Even though I was dressed for cold weather; thermal underwear, ski socks and gloves, etc. by half time I couldnt feel anything from the waist down. We went back to the car at half time to warm up and ended up staying there until the game was over, listening to the game on the radio.
Joe Paterno is a great coach and outstanding human being, but there are several games left in the season...it wouldn't have hurt to have his 409th win come in the next game. It would have given them another chance to get all worked up over the "409" bit.
Most importantly, the Illini wouldn't have lost...
