Hi FRiend! Welcome to FR.
The essential thing is beating Obama. Recent polls show that “Any Generic Republican” has that in her (or his) Power.
That being said, Romney is too much of a liberal, and like you said, would not carry forth with the Conservative principles for which we have all worked so hard.
So the solution will be to overwhelm Romney in the Primaries with someone who can beat both him AND Obama.
So I am supporting Herman Cain. His meteoric rise in the polls shows that he resonates with voters of the Tea Party and non-RINO Republicans.
Just my humble opinion, and I am sure will get others.
The media is desperately trying to manufacture consensus for the sheep to follow.
I’m not a sheep.

This.
Obama will be re-elected because the conditions that led to his election have not been reversed.
. . . which is why, almost 2 years ago, I adopted my tagline, "Draft Palin"I haven't abandoned it, even tho it looks like a long shot at this point with her having disavowed any plan to run. But then, a draft does not require a run by the person drafted, does it?
As I say, I adopted that tagline precisely because of the need to fend off a Romney run in '12. If we could have coalesced around a solid conservative, and I thought (and think) Palin was solid, we would have been able to nip the Romney/Establishment problem in the bud.
