Magnetic Storm?? I believe I read somewhere earlier that a Coronal Mass Ejection from the Sun hit our magnetic field earlier today. I'm not a scientist, but if what I read is true, could be related..??

I read that, too - a CME which depressed earth’s magnetic field for a short while ... it’s supposed to be at maximum around midnight.

The sun has above average activity right now. Been that way for a couple of months. Which is a good thing, we do not want very many winters like the past three. Its activity however is a little late to help us this winter. We will see a lot of pretty lights at night. This is good. Means we have stopped cooling. Now for the sun to just keep cranking for a year or two and we might just get some significant warming and get back to mild winters. But then, the next solar minimum follows and even NASA predicts the next maximum to be weak. So enjoy the light shows while they last, cause they may disappear for quite awhile.
