Those ‘you may lose’ crawlers come up once a year or so when they are in contract renewals. I think they are to get customers to put pressure on Fox to help DirectTV’s negotiation position.

I think it’s the other way around. It appeared embedded in the FX channel feed when I saw it rather than overlaid by DTV. Like FOX wants its viewers to pressure DTV to pay the higher content fees Fox wants. And Dish is running commercials about it trying to suck customers away from DTV.
