Google testosterone insensitivity.

These people are phenotypically 100% female, some say 110% because they tend to have stronger female secondary sexual characteristics with rounder hips and larger breasts.

Their brains have no testosterone receptors so as far as their brains go, they are 100% female too.

The testicles generally don't leave the pelvis so most never get diagnosed unless their mother takes them to the doctor because they never started their period or they seek fertility treatment because they are having trouble conceiving.

There are many doctors that recommend just removing the testicles because there is a high rate of cancer in them, and informing them that they are infertile women and not mentioning that they are XY instead of XX.

Thanks for the info! I have a friend who is a hermaphrodite, but the other way around. He was born with functioning ovaries. This has led to a whole host of problems for him. Unfortunately his parents are hardcore fundamentalist Christians who believe he is possessed by the devil.... putting him through exorcisms etc. uh.. no... his issues are physical in nature. Thanks for the info. I should not have been so flippant! Not given that I know someone who has suffered their whole life because of something similar. It was insensitive at best.
