Nisson Truck Commercial
TV Ad | Today | Self

Posted on 10/18/2011 3:02:52 PM PDT by CTOCS

By now I'm sure most of you have seen the Nisson truck ad where the pickup aids the Boeing 727 land with collapsed nosegear. Is this for real or an episode of clever cinematography? I figure if anyone would know, you guys would.

Zee bee!! Thank you. I was really beginning to wonder about Freepers. Couldn’t believe we passed 50 post before someone noted that disclaimer right on the screen. But you beat me to it. You won!

If you read the lower right it says, "Fictionalization- Do Not Attempt"

As opposed to the rest of the car commercials that have "Professional driver on a closed course. Do not attempt." And then all they show is the car driving down the street. Obviously lawyers at 'work'!

Another favorite in the car commercial category is when they flash "European options" - Is that the driver or the wheel covers? I get so confused!

And for the punsters amongst us (you know who you are) - this classic on the original Nissan of America name; It was the middle of WW2 and the Germans sent an auto expert to help the Japanese develop a new car. When he got over there and saw the prototype he asked when they were putting it into production. Upon hearing that it would be next week, he said ... ( I really don't need to finish this do I? )

A few years ago, they started making all of these dumb commercials showing how tough the truck is. Im pretty sure this is a retread, and pretty sure it is not real.

Its a Toyota commercial and no, that is not possible, The weight on the front wheels of even the smallest airliner would crush the truck.

As a Titan owner, I can assure you that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One reason I chose it, is for its more angular look, rather than the bouncing rubber balls you get from the big 3 :)

The others:

(1) At the time of purchase, no Big 3 maker was quicker to 60mph. This important to me since I sometimes drive in a real city with folks who think a Bimmer is their ticket to cut me off. Tie that with a Japanese designed 32V V8 that makes very nice noises, I was sold on the motor.

(2) 9500 lb. tow limit, you were forced to add a lot of gimmicks to get that on Chevy or Ford products. The Nissan 2wd comes stock with a transmission cooler & 9500 lb. tow rate. You can tow big without adding a multi-grand tow package. My 4WD also is so equipped, without additional fees for a transmission cooler.

(3) Handled like a dream. Never been in a pickup that nimble before.

(4) Not UAW assembled, but built in US right-to-work states.

Of course it’s fake...It would take a Ford to pull off that feat...

"My truck can fly!!! I shot down 3 MIG’s and bombed a terrorist hideout Sunday. "

Hmmm...On closer examination of your claim there seems to be some liberties taken with the truth.

Since there are no MIGs in the theater at this time, you must have meant:
My truck can fly!!! I shot down 3 MIG’s camels and bombed a terrorist hideout Sunday.

In the future, keep George Washington in mind...

It’s a fake pure and simple. A commercial airliners landing speed has to be a minimum of at least 180 mph to prevent a stall. No pick-up does that speed and the weight of any commercial airliner, even a small one is several dozen tons.

I remember an episode of "Thunderbirds" (that's right, the original show with the marionettes) where they tried the same trick. Wasn't just the nose wheel, though, the A/C had total landing gear failure and three trucks were needed. It didn't end well, as I recall.

I remember that too and when I first saw the commercial, it reminded me of the "Thunderbirds" right away. BTW, that also reminds me of the "Airwolf" episode where Stringfellow Hawke was forced to land a helicopter on a train carrying nuclear weapons (or weapons grade material).
