This doesn't sound so bad, If you assume he means reducing the barriers to job creation. Which is probably what he was getting at (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt), although he didn't say it that well.
Refusing to admit that a majority share this concern is the kind of thing that the media can use to say the GOP is "out of touch" with the concerns of regular people. By acknowledging it, it nips that in the bud. Now, to redeem himself, he needs to say what the solution is, which, of course would be things like a simpler tax code, fewer regulations, etc. etc. etc.

You really need to consider the possibility that he is correct. Certainly the results of the nominating process in 48,52,56,60,68,72,76,88,92,96,00,04, and 08 suggest that he is.
