With some states having high state sales taxes, i agree.

However, part of 999 is the assumption that the states that have high rates do something different, too.

States are easier to steer than federal governments. Each state can do what makes sense for them (economically).

Imagine that, returning to a real republic.

How does that assumption become reality? What is going to make the sates lower their sales tax rates?
