Probably killed off by smog laws. I had a Ford F-150 with the 300 cubic inch in-line 6 that was as tough as a tractor.
Yep, all the good old iron I-6 motors are dead. Love the 4.0 in my Wrangler. Good thing it only has 198,000 on it, so it's barely broke in.
I deliver parts to a local ice cream vendor. He buys old Ford vans from 1973 to 1977 with the old I-6, 300 cu in engine in them. He loves those old motors. A couple of times, he did buy a newer van though, a 1979 Ford. B-)

Lalo Schifrin and an unadulterated San Francisco make the movie so beautiful.
It’s a shame that the city has gone to hell thanks to “good intentions”.
An old g/f and I stayed a night in a hotel on Mason 2 blocks from Fisherman’s Wharf in the mid-90’s and I’ll never forget how magic the city seemed watching the fog leap over Nob Hill at night.

This was a “Movie Cars” list. Since the General was not a memorable movie car, and made its impact on TV like Knight Rider’s KITT, it couldn’t be included (otherwise KITT would also have made the list along with the Miami Vice Testarossa, Magnum’s Ferrari, the A Team’s van and a few other memorable vehicles).

My neice has one of those. I can’t even count how much money I’ve “loaned” her over the years to keep and keep up that beast.

I think that motor dates back to Nash days when AMC was formed. I'm told that a version of the engine was sold to Rolls Royce in the early 50s.
