Strike that. No national league game tonight.
Tigers and Rangers tied at 1 each in the bottom of the 4th.
Beltre and Martinez both injured?
Two games today though, AL at 4ET , NL at 8 ET. I work nights during the week (had Mon off as a holiday). Was able to catch last night’s game at work as a local sports talk FM station was broadcasting it, but they only do sporadic games. For some of the others I may have to rely on distant stations from NY etc.
As ESPN Radio and perhaps Fox TV mentioned, Red Sox GM Theo Epstein appears headed to Cubs for 5 years and big money. Ironically enough yesterday afternoon I saw Moneyball—great movie—and it showed how Billy Beane clashed with his manager Art Howe, etc., but he had a unique method of putting a team together and they had
an amazing win streak etc. At the end of the movie it
shows Beane heading to Fenway Park to interview with
Red Sox owner at end of 2002 season.
Sox offered him $12.5 million contract. He declined to sign with the big money team and stayed with Oakland. Graphic at end said that 2 yrs later Sox won first World Series
since 1918 (Theo Epstein GM) using same kind of approach Beane did.
A response to a NY Daily News article about Epstein had a Red Sox fan saying that Epstein did use that kind of
approach to help them win 2 World Series, but more recently the team started to approach big money free agents (Crawford, Lackey) who flopped. Big Boston Globe article about the huge Sept. collapse. Major league FAIL all
around.
It isn’t official yet but Epstein could indeed be headed
to the 1908 World Champions.
