Tigers and Rangers Cardinals and Brewers
(Excerpt) Read more at freerepublic.com ...
I am a diehard White Sox fan . . . but I am rooting big time for the Tigers (GRRRROOOOWWWWWLLLLL)!
They deserve to be where they are at, and have earned the respect of everyone - in my opinion.
As have the Cards.
That would be terrific! (though I don’t know if I could stand Hawk Harrelson for more than 162 games).
I could be mistaken, but this seems to be the first time in awhile that there’s no East/West-coast team in the LCS...
No matter what, its going to be a flyover country series.
Former Red Sox mgr Terry Francona will do analysis in place of Tim McCarver (some kind of surgery?_
We’ll take all the pull we get. :)
It would be interesting to go back to newspapers/magazines baseball previews to see predictions of World Series matchups. “Yankees-Phillies!” “Red Sox-Giants!” etc.
As recently as yesterday:

>>I expect the Detroit Tigers to beat the Texas Rangers and get to the World Series. And I think they will then lose to the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. So Phillies are my champs, beating the Brewers on their way to the World Series.

Good. Hope he’s laid up till after the Series. Can’t stand him.
East/West Coast teams make up about half of MLB teams (and way more than half of total salaries) so it’s not so odd!
I really like that. There is something populist about the final four winners. We can call this the “People’s World Series.”
I suppose we still get stuck with Joe Buck though. Ugh.
I’m sure Phillies and their fans are still in shock. Did they win more games this season than any other team? Well, a team’s record has a lot to do with the division they play in. D-backs played in a weak division, for example.
I want Brewers to win NL, but could live with the Cards taking it, as recent ex-Dodger Furcal is on the team and he is a joy to watch when he stays healthy.
I was definitely concerned about the Phillies and I’m still concerned about the world series because the Tigers had some uncharacteristically bad inter league games.
On the other hand, what happened then has little bearing on what happens now.
Yep. ‘Great time for a sports fan — Baseball playoffs, Football in full swing, NHL season starting (Go Sabres!), no basketbawl...
The Yankees and Phillies led their leagues in payroll and wins.
Of the 10 (actually 11) teams with the biggest payrolls, only the lowest two - Tigers and Cardinals - are still left. Seven of the top 10/11 payroll teams didn’t make the playoffs at all.
Please tell me you're kidding...
LOL fraid not.
Looks good in Hi Def.
Starting to look like you were right about CJ
