Sarah Palin is in a very powerful position in 2012. She's Kingmaker. She will use her influence to move to elect conservatives to Congress and statehouses, and to see that the President will have his toes to the fire. Not everyone needs to be President. Obama needed the job. Sarah Palin needs to be effective.

“Sarah Palin is in a very powerful position in 2012. She’s Kingmaker.”

Perhaps. Do you know anyone who will base their vote on who she recommends? I don’t, nor will it influence my vote.

We’ll see.

I think it’s more likely that she’ll become one of many pundits commenting on the race, with no particular influence.

Good grief, do people not realize that the fangirly segment of Palin’s base, the segment that caused them the most trouble over this last year or so, almost completely turned on a dime against her over her decision not to run?

Congratulations, you just stripped Palin of whatever influence she might have had left. (She can rebuild in the future.) If she can’t even deliver her formerly obsessed fangirly fans, everyone else will feel a lot more free to do what they’ve done with her run announcement: react to it in a ho-hum way and move on.
