It is supposed to serve many goals of communist indoctrination. Collective work, reliance on the group rather than the individual, etc. Stalin resorted to implementation of the plan by mass murder and wholesale deportation of farmers to Siberia. Millions of unfortunates who remained also died of starvation, and the centuries-old system of farming was destroyed in one of the most fertile regions in the world for farming, once called “the breadbasket of Europe”.
