Some food plants have a completely different taste when imported and grown in a new country-look at all the different varieties of tea-and olive oil produced in California, and now Texas as well.

Even though coffee originated in Africa, in my opinion the tastiest coffee comes from Central and South America. Most melon varieties were brought from Africa, too.

Tomatoes and corn were originally from Mexico/South America, and were enthusiastically taken back to Europe in the 16th century along with turkeys (go figure), potatoes, chili peppers, tobacco, etc.
