My husband and I (and many Red Sox friends) are saddened and stunned about Tito's departure as well, Mears.
However, there are reports all over the media that Tito was apparently unable to control several of the "elite" Red Sox players in the club house this year. Supposedly pitchers like Beckett were drinking beer during games that they weren't pitching. That's a firing offense, if true.
I don't know what to believe. I'll always be a Dustin Pedroia fan, though. :-)
