Thanks, Red Sox, for keeping my Braves’ collapse off of the front page.
You can take the Braves out of Boston, but you can't take the Boston out of the Braves.
Keep in mind that your Braves USED to be a BOSTON franchise...someone had it out for Boston this year; past and present.
Have pity on me. I've been a die-hard Red Sox fan since 1978 (first year of grad school; something about walking up that ramp and seeing the Green Monster was an epiphany) and I live in Atlanta.
The saving grace is that I'm a baseball fan first. I grew up in a household where I'd come into the kitchen for breakfast and my mother would say "Bobby Richardson went two for three last night and Aparicio stole his 41st."
As an adult I had the joy of taking that elderly mother and my own children to Braves playoff and World Series games, Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Camden Yards . . . Cooperstown, and so on. My mother turned 86 this week and has been to twenty-three MLB parks. The Great American Pastime.
The post-season's here. Let's play two!
