I think house shoes and bedroom slippers are essentially the same thing. It depends on whats said in your neck of the woods. Kind of like soda or pop/
I think it is more of a monetary difference than a geographical difference. I have traveled to every state in this Union and I have heard the difference from soda, pop, "Coke," etc... But I have never heard anyone switching between house shoes and bedroom slippers.
The likes of Hugh Hefner, Bill Gates, Barrack Obama, Warren Buffet have "bedroom slippers."
Normal people have "house shoes."

I don’t know a single person who refers to their “house shoes.” And most people I know are normal. :-)
My husband has a habit of calling flip-flops “shower shoes.” That really bugs me.
