We have one of those under out sink.
Its a handy place for your wife to stash all kinds of crap, so that when you accidentally grab it while making coffee at 4 AM, it launches all kinds of stuff all over the kitchen floor that you have to find before you step on whatever it is in your bare feet.
Nail it shut. Use some Gorilla Glue too, just to be sure she can never open it.
