“The IRS could wait a week or so. Not the few years Cain seems to be alluding to.”
To do away with the Federal Income Tax will require a Constitutional amendment repeal, which WILL take some time going through the usual process of Congress, then the States. He’s said that a flat tax would likely be a good bridge until we can get rid of federal income tax - THEN the fair tax, a uniform sales tax, should be the only tax charged to people. He doesn’t want the fair tax in ADDITION to income tax, otherwise it’d be a VAT like Europe has. We have to have some kind of tax to produce necessary revenues, but either a flat tax or a national sales tax seems fair, AND would get that near-50% not currently paying ANY income tax to contribute.
He also said in debate that he’d like to eliminate the EPA. The moderator only gave the candidates a choice of one to eliminate, but I’ve also heard him in the past say he’d like to eliminate the Dept. of Education as well. Both of these would be my top two choices.
Cain is a great man, an excellent team builder and a true problem solver.
You’re obviously a “fair tax” shill.
The Fair Tax would be the undoing of small business, and anything detrimental to the creator of over 80% of our jobs will be harmful to the nation as a whole.
Fortunately, the fair tax is already dead, except in the minds of mental midgets, but it still gives me chills down my spine to hear it mentioned.
The flat tax is our reasonable hope, but it is up hill too.
