He was lobbied on the issue by the young lady who was a cervical cancer victim just like he said but it was when the Tx Legislature was debating whether to overturn the Exec Order or not. She lobbied to Perry and the TX Legislature to keep the drug on the list (with an opt out).
I got lobbied on this issue. I got lobbied by a 31 year old young lady who had stage 4 cervical cancer, said Perry. I spent a lot of time with her. She came by my office She talked to me about this program. I readily admitted we should have had an opt-in but I dont know what part of opt out most parents dont get and the fact is I erred on the side of life and I will always err on the side of life as a governor as a president of the United States.
“...I will always err on the side of life as a governor as a president of the United States.
THIS statement in reference to gardasil should scare the bejeepers out of every conservative bar none.
Wow, TexMom, did you get the same lying press release Carlin did or something? He never said he “admitted [to her] we should have had an opt in.” He said, “I readily admit [now, to those here present] we should have had an opt in.”
By lying, and changing “admit” to “admitted,” this quote sends a present-tense aside into the past, making it appear like the context of this meeting was after he had signed the executive order.
The true context was the opposite: he was explaining why he had signed the executive order, claiming it was because of a meeting which had not yet happened.
And that should end this thread. Perry's statement is factually correct -- it is only those trying to make it force fit the timeline of the EO that try to make it appear otherwise.
