Back in the 90's during the Colorado drought, we asked a local supermarket for spoiled apples and other fruits and veggies to give to the Division of Wildlife to feed the bears. (they used to do that years ago)

They told us it was against the law, so we waited until the stuff went in the dumpster and crawled in and "stole" sometimes only slightly bruised fruits and vegetables.

After seeing first-hand the good things businesses throw away, dumpster diving is mighty tempting.

When I worked as an Event Planner, I worked with several caterers. All food that is not eaten is discarded (the law). The first time I realized that they were throwing away the food, I freaked. After that, I brought containers and they filled them up. Yes! Awesome food free.
