Common sense in the present economic situation tells us that the federal government is consuming about 25% treasure more than it should. Obviously, the simple fix is to "down-size" it and attempt some sweeping structural changes.
McCotter sees this. Cain sees this. Let's face it, anyone with half-a-brain sees this. (Joe Biden? No) But any cut in federal budgets disempowers so many in the government and out, that normal politicians are afraid to do it. i.e., Republicans and Democrats.
Their rationale, put forth by The Mombasa Moonbeam and his Team, but subscribed to by all of them, is that right now, massive cuts to the federal government could at least in the short term, worsen the present depression by taking the cash spent by the government and its employees off the table.
They could be right. This bitter pill is too hard to swallow because the public has been taught by lie and half-truth to see any belt-tightening or structural overhaul as a threat to entitlements.
So realists like this McCotter, and Cain, probably have slim and no chance to achieve electoral office. OTOH, Those who offer ... or pretend to offer ... the public an easier way out will prevail ...i.e. some mickey mouse cuts in spending (e.g., closing of the "Coffee Tasting Board," etc) + some "tax cuts."
"There you go, John Q. Public, we have sliced the budget by only spending 5% more than the last budget! And we have cut govredtape and reduced taxes!" Huzzah!
These measures should see this depression ending around 2030, under President(e) Gonzalez.
