What really galls me though is to see a grown man in brightly colored spandex, wearing a pointy helmet and actually thinking he’s cool. They say that they’re trying to keep fit. I say if they really want to keep fit, then they should look up their local Army ROTC unit and do PT with them!

*****************************************

If they wanted exercise they’d sell the $3,000+ carbon fiber road racer and buy a $70 wide tired cruiser at WalMart, in my experience they break every traffic law around ,,, never stop for lights or signs and impede traffic regularly. I swear the next time I’m at a stop sign and I see a group of “cyclists” heading for an opposite stop sign at warp speed I’m going to pull out right in front of them and exclaim (loudly) But I KNEW you saw YOUR stop sign? May I see your license and insurance cards please?

I've gone through all the postings in this thread and strongly suspect that the very few on the side of the cyclists are those types we've been discussing. I've found these types to be insecure, past their prime, and reliving glory days of high school. But playing full contact sports would probably kill them at this point in their lives, and high adventure sports are just a tad over the top. So they get all spandexed up and pretend to be Lance Armstrong on weekends.

This is all well and good. All of us look back fondly on certain times of our lives in the past. But the entitlement attitude with the road is what galls me and everybody else. This type of person we're discussing has a bad reputation for this... evidenced by many of the postings in this thread! This makes them a HAZARD. It really would settle things down a LOT if the privilege of riding a bicycle on public roadways were gained through a taxed registration process...complete with safety checks and all just as with motor vehicles. Perhaps then the entitlement attitude cyclists would shut their pie holes and be a little less haughty on the roads.

ah well... fools will be fools. :-)
