I would not be surprised within 15 years some physicist revives the supposedly discarded theory of aether and comes up with a totally new theory of physics that overthrows everything we've known since the 1600's.

Most people don't know about the ether/aether theory, but every time I read a story about dark matter or dark energy I chuckle a little bit to myself.
"Look, I just proved that light travels in waves."
"But waves need some sort of medium to travel though."
"ummm, right.......... I know, the universe is filled with something that you can't see or detect called.......aether. Yeah, that's the ticket!"
So you may be right. My invisible friend agrees.
