Creepy North Korea: The Hidden 5th Floor
There are some things on a trip that are just asking to be done. When we noticed that elevator buttons skipped the 5th floor of our hotel in Pyongyang, or that if you google Yanggakdo Hotel it auto-fills it to Yanggakdo Hotel Floor 5″, we knew something was up. And we also knew nobody was allowed to go there.
So we went there.

“4” is the bad luck number
It's the Yanggakdo International Hotel - an easy place to pick up information. How quaint they would use people to listen rather than machines.
This is where the US negotiators for Six Party talks, temporary US State Department reps to the DPRK, visiting US VIPs, nuclear specialists, etc. stay, and are under KWP Intelligence Directorate surveillance.
That remind me of that Twilight Zone episode where Anne Francis went up to 18th floor nothing there Tiger LOL!
Maybe skipping a floor never really caught on in the South.
