I have in my possession probably five hundred or more kodachrome slides in boxes, part of the estate of a much older friend of ours who died about a month before 9-11.
Also about a dozen small 8mm film reels (Kodachrome Color safety film) some from the early 50s,some the late 50s,early 60s when he toured with the likes of Paul Anka, Tony Bennett, etc. He was a pianist and musical director who worked with these guys and many others. I haven’t seen any of the film but look forward to. I just noticed one reel marked HAVANA 1958. THAT should be interesting. Stuff from Latin America too. I have an old 8MM projector I got at a yard sale a long time ago, now all I need is to find a screen~ What can I view those slides with?

“What can I view those slides with?”

You need a slide projector. You can probably find one of those at a yard sale too.

Others can advise you better than I, but that’s what you need. The best ones, I think, had a carousel type set up, so you could load a bunch of slide in and spin through them. Simpler ones you have to put them in and out one at a time. These were actually rather dreaded, as it usually meant you’d be seeing your friend or neighbors very boring vacation pix!

As for a screen, you can just use a blank white wall, if you’ve got one of those available.

I used this to convert everything to digital - I felt it gave good results and isn’t priced too high. The cheap ones that look like little boxes I tried and got very bad results with.

Late to the thread, but some of the higher optical resolution HP scanners have slide holders. These days they aren't terribly expensive. They give good results but eat up a lot of time in the process.

Though a good photo shop would likely be able to digitize that stuff as a service, using more purpose designed equipment that doesn't need to be hand fed.
