SAO PAULO (AP) — Newly crowned Miss Universe Leila Lopes hopes her victory will allow her to assist her native Angola further escape its history of war and impoverishment and said she plans to focus on combatting HIV around the globe.
Speaking in a timid voice early Tuesday shortly after taking the crown in South America's largest city, the 25-year-old Lopes said that "as Miss Angola I've already done a lot to help my people."

Another plus is that she’s from a part of the world where a good husband is really appreciated, so it’s likely she’d put in the effort to make a good wife.
I have been fortunate to work over in Angola (oil industry)for the past few years.. The local citizens there are great people to work with.
Unfortunately I have NOT met that lady (others are nice looking also).. Well I am too Old to be of interest to that class of ladies, but it helps keep my imagination churned up (or quivering)..
Why bother? HIV doesn’t cause AIDs, and AIDs is NOT a sexually transmitted disease. If it did, and were, we’d have all been dead years ago. Absolute stupidity.

A goddess. We watched the final 30 or so after hootin' and hollerin' for Herman Cain in the debate. My wife picked her as the winner. She is beautiful, poised and confident. She does have Bond Girl look about her, too.
