I think you may have missed the thread which was pulled.

It’s propaganda. Trust me.

It is the date PUBLISHED not the date posted.

I think you should have the thread removed and then you can do it right. Besides, it is old news and should not have been posted in News/Activism/

Sarah Palin took a hard swipe against her friend Rick Perry in a post-debate TV appearance, calling him out by name for “crony capitalism” for his effort to mandate an HPV vaccine for girls in Texas.

Asked by Greta Van Susteren about someone in Perry’s office going to work for a drug company that made the vaccine, Palin sought to put a finer point on it: “That someone, as Michele Bachmann pointed out, was Governor Perry’s former chief of staff.”

She went on: “That’s crony capitalism. That’s part of the problem that we have in this country is that people are afraid, even in our own party, to call one another out on that. True reform and fighting the corruption and fighting the crony capitalism is a tough thing to do within your own party. You have to go up against the big guns and they will try to destroy you when you call them out on the mistakes that they have made. Believe me, I know that, I have the bumps and bruises to prove it because that’s what I have been doing for the last 20 years … calling out the corruption in government. Michele Bachmann tried to make that point tonight and she’s going to get potentially crucified.”

Van Susteren asked another question, but Palin wasn’t done: “Let me go back to that issue with Governor Perry,” she said. She pointed out that at the time Perry was boosting the vaccine in Texas, she was opposing it in Alaska, and she thought Perry’s order was strange “because it just didn’t sound like Governor Perry,” who she thought was against big government.

“I knew even at that time something was up with that issue. And now we’re finding out, yeah, something was up with that issue,” she said.

The Bachmann-Palin lovefest appears to be mutual. Bachmann’s campaign cited “crony capitalism” in a news release issued mid-debate. And Bachmann used the line when she appeared on Van Susteren’s show a few minutes later.

“This is what the American people don’t want. They don’t want crony capitalism. It infuriates them,” she said, drawing a parallel with Obama’s Solyndra controversy.

“It’s no better when Republicans engage in that as well,” she said.

What I don’t get is how come all of a sudden this is a big deal for Palin. She’s sung Perry’s praises for some time now, endorsed him, campaigned for him. I can understand Bachmann not knowing about this until recently and bringing it up because Perry has stolen her base, but not Palin.

I believe the “crony capitalism” (which sound like corruption to this humble poster)

IOW, you (and Sarah) are saying that Perry is corrupt because he tried to institute a Gardasil inoculation program.

Palin may not have mandated it (though a mandate with an opt out isn’t really a mandate) but if you are going to “make it possible for all Alaska girls ages 9 through 18 to receive Gardasil” then you aren’t opposing it. It’s a promotion.

No it’s not. SP went there on Greta therefore it’s fair game to go and see what she did as Gov.

It’s all semantics. She just took the federal money to pay for this while Rick Perry did an EO mandating it with an opt out so that kids with insurance would be covered.

I know a lot of people think this will make kids more promiscuous but in reality the kids are doing things way earlier than we used. Most of them even think that oral sex isn’t really sex which is why there is a rapid rise of the various mouth/throat cancers. We can thank Bill Clinton for that.

Ah, could it be that Perry said publicly less than a year ago he was NOT running for president. And Sarah took him at his word only to discover he had been planning a run for at least two years. Some people do NOT like to be used.

"Financing is another concern: if states make the vaccine mandatory, they must also address funding issues, including for Medicaid and SCHIP coverage and youth who are uninsured, and whether to require coverage by insurance plans. This has caused some to push for further discussion and debate about whether or not to require the vaccine."

In Texas, if it's not mandated, it can't require insurance to pay for it.

I’m not actually saying that.

I’m more referring to the unanswered question as to (why?).

There are two problems with this situation.

One is the mandate. That in and of itself is way, way out there for someone who believes in conservative principles to be doing.

Beyond that, the question is (why?) would such a program be instituted?

Did someone near or associated with Perry gain from such a program?

But I suspect you understand perfectly, and are here simply to divert and muddy the waters.

That also, is easily understood.

Are you Perry people really intent on a foodfight?

If so, say the word.

In fact I kinda liked the guy until I started reading posts from his most “ardent” supporters here...that “sun shines out of his a** no matter what he says or does” attitude doesn’t fly with me...too much like Obama supporters...

So what is the procedure for a Governor to tell the FEDERAL government you cannot 'give' this vaccine to the citizens of this state.

Michele and Palin brought up the gardasil accusation. The burden of proof lies on THEIR shoulders to make the case, not Perry.

IOW, with Perry's program the taxpayers would be on the hook as much as with Sarah's.

What you said makes sense. Thanks.

So it’s okay to let her get by with taking federal money to pay for all the girls in AK to get the vaccine while going after Perry for trying to do something so that insured kids would be covered. He admitted that he should have gone the legislative route instead of the EO but parents still had an opt out.

She went there and therefore, it’s fair game to discuss.
