So, reading a Psalm that was written a over a thousand years before the founding of Islam is paying homage to that religion? A stretch at best. Psalm 48 is a Psalm of comfort stating that as the world is falling apart, we can find comfort in the God of Jacob (Israel in this context). But, I will keep an eagle eye on my LCMS Pastor to make sure he never uses that verse.

Since the Koran says Jacob was a good Muslim, then "the God of Jacob" might be seen as a reference to Allah. If Obama sounded angry reading the psalm (and it wasn't simply his usual immaturity), then perhaps he really hated having to read from the Christian Bible, and the only thing that made it even halfway tolerable was believing he was making a statement for Islam.
Or alternatively, he's simply an atheistic Commie. In which case he hated reading from the Bible. The psalm was chosen as another hint to Muslims that he's really one of them.
