I couldn't wait to get back. It was a way to show the terrorists that we couldn't be intimidated. I was very proud and anxious to get back in there at a time when it felt like you were putting yourself in harm's way.

Back then, everyone feared more attacks. The anthrax scare hit and there was a bull market for Israeli gas masks. Working in the financial district after 9-11 felt like being at the front. I was glad to have the opportunity to go back, and was proud of all the rest of us who got back to work and got on with the business of life.
