I was home from work that day to take my then 5 year old son to the Eye Doctor to have his eyes checked out.
We left the house about an hour after the towers fell to drive to the doctors office, purely out of just not knowing what else to do that day.
As we drove to the doctors office, we saw many people pulled off to the side of the road, out of their cars. Some were walking around near their cars, others were looking up in the sky. Others were obviously and noticeably distraught.
The whole visit to the eye doctor seemed surreal. Everyone seemed to be going through the motions of what they were supposed to be doing in the course of a normal day, which it clearly was not.
My oldest son was diagnosed with an inner ocular eye muscle palsy (same condition as I have) and thankfully it was caught early so it was treated successfully without surgery and he no longer requires glasses for correction.
The only other thing I remember about that day was there were no planes in the sky. At one point in the late afternoon I looked up and saw four streaks in the sky going from North to South, faster and higher than anything I'd ever seen.
As God is my witness, I thought we launched on someone.
A minute later, four new streaks appeared across the sky going from West to East, as high and fast as the previous streaks I saw. I can only speculate on this based on news reports and accounts published after that day, but I believe that was President Bush heading back to the White House from NORAD out west.
I'm in Illinois, so it makes some sense that we'd be in the flight path back to DC, but who knows if that was really President Bush or not...
I’m in Wisconsin, a few miles from Truax Air Force Base where my husband served.
I remember too, the sky void of planes, except for F-16s if they were scrambled or patrolling.
There is regional airport there too, and we normally see quite a few airplanes, but of course not on that horrible day.
I still get as angry about it as I did the morning I saw it all unfold on television.
And I still to this day, frown uncontrollably when I see someone in the islamic garb here in my country, enjoying our freedom, possibly planning our deaths while they infest our country, as they are doing in other countries.
The Usurper’s love for islam is abhorrent. I think he is one of them. After all he said the sound of the “call to prayer” is the most beautiful sound he ever heard.
And the bowing to islamics, it’s too much to take...
