but that small character was once the 27th part of the alphabet.
I got busted for a DUI because when I recited the alphabet backwards I left out the ampersand.....
The cop wouldn't believe me when I said it was my kindergarten teacher's fault

My great-grandmother did have a sampler she made with that on it. The letters were all doing the actions described. It was a very cool piece of art.
