I clicked through the slideshow, and cops and firemen aren’t even on the list.

But get ready for the cop and firemen unions to try to guilt-mail us into sweetening their already outrageous salaries during the upcoming 9/11 remembrances because “we put our lives on the line every day!”

Coal miners and farmers are way more at risk. And they don’t threaten public safety every time they decide they want a raise.

I am familiar with the firefighter LODD. They are staying steady around 100 a year in a normal year. Modern lightweight building construction has made the profession more dangerous which seems like an oxymoron. Truss construction has led to less aggressive interior firefighting because of the risk of unpredictable collapse in buildings where it is used.
