I remember that movie. It should infuriate today’s women, especially at the end.
Is this some sort of movie slamming the possibility of Palin running? Or Bachman getting the GOP nomination? Is it questioning how horrible it would be for a woman to be the POTUS?
I have neve seen the movie. I was wondering the timing of it. However, it is only a movie that was release 10 months after Palin was born.
Perhaps I am seeing “shadows” where no shadows exist. I do wonder about the timing. I wonder what happens at the end of the movie? Does the female president do something crazy because she is despondent over a wrecked life? It just makes me wonder.
“... it should infuriate today’s women, especially at the end”.
You are driving me nuts, Lady Lucky! How does the movie end?!!!
“The President is pregnant.”
Whereupon...well, you can guess.
I’m on a cross country trip right now. Today’s itinerary is Mesquite, NV to Denver, CO. My husband back in Michigan, routinely has TCM on as background noise as he “hobbies.” I’ll have to ask him his impression of the movie. However, if it was made in the 60’s, it’s probably far too modern for him.
It took millions of men to get her into the WH, and just one to get her out. Barf!
SPOILER ALERT!!!

“Ladies and gentlemen, the President is pregnant.”
Of course I’m not saying you all shouldn’t watch it. Always liked Fred, even though he was inclined to play clueless men. It was the sixties, and not classic screwball comedy by any measure, but as, shall we say goofball comedy, it wasn’t bad. Just make sure you are in the cultural mind-set of the era and can forgive them their antique trespasses.
As to whether this movie has anything whatsoever to do with Palin...no. Next summer’s return to Dallas, however, with Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy, may have some use to the libs if Perry gets nominated.
Oh thank you for posting, this sounds like a cute popcorn movie.........I love old movies
Oh, goodness! Not THAT!!! Thanks for the ending... Not knowing was driving me bonkers. LOL!!
Sometimes the old movies viewed by modern eyes are quite funny. I usually laugh myself sick when I see a woman wandering around the house in an apron AND PEARLS! I am also amazed at some of the movies where every character has a lit cigarette in their hand. The one great thing about an older movie.. you usually don’t have to worry about nudity or language. I think a lot of “symbolism” was used to portray to the adult audience what was going on. For example, I read that some movies would show a couple kiss and then the camera would show curtains blowing in the breeze. I guess that is quite the symbol! LOL!
The insidious liberal, Ted Turner, is doubtless behind this not so subtle slam meant to diminish the image of a ‘non-democrap party’ female candidate for the Presidency.
My grandmother wore pearls around the house. It never looked unusual to me, except when she was smoking a cigar.
