W.Va. man streaked at NASCAR event, had wild raccoon in his car (You might be a Red Neck if...)

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Tennessee police said they got a shock on Saturday when they discovered a wild raccoon in the car of a Parkersburg man arrested for streaking at a NASCAR event.

Joshua Greene, 27, was naked when officers arrested him in a local subdivision in Bristol, Tenn., said Bristol Police Capt. Matt Austin.

Multiple witnesses called police after Greene went streaking through Pit Row Market, where concerts were being held for the weekend's races, Austin said.

During the investigation, officers were surprised when they saw that Greene was keeping a live raccoon confined in the backseat of his car, Austin said.

"He had it in a large plastic tote with some holes in it so it could breathe," he said. "I wouldn't let officers open the tote until the Wildlife Agency got there to tell us what to do with it."

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency was called out to safely remove the wild animal.

Greene and his girlfriend found the raccoon in nearby Warriors' Path State Park and chased it into their car, Austin said.

The only thing that could make this story more interesting is if the man would have streaked WHILE HOLDING THE WILD RACCOON. Now... that would have been a show stopper!

Neck tattoo, wild raccoon, and alcohol. Everybody knew Joshua Greene was a party just waiting to happen.

Having a wild raccoon in the car is nothing compared having a Black bear cub in the back seat of your car.

The things they do in East Tennessee.

A fond memory of my father and a few of his friends catching a bear cub in the Smokey mountains circa 1940. When AMERICA WAS AMERICA.

Things are all relative in WV. Who could blame the guy for trying to have a good time? It was a NASCAR event ya know.

I was born in Clarksburg Bird-topia (aka West Virginia). Did you know that the tooth brush was invented in West Virginia? That's why it's not called a "teeth" brush.

When I was a kid growing up on a farm, we had a problem with wild animals killing chickens and eating eggs. Usually it was a raccoon, but sometimes it turned out to be a bobcat, weasel, or skunk. I borrowed a catch-alive trap from a friend and set it up near the chicken house. The next morning I came out and found a skunk in the trap.

My dad was a truck driver and a practical joker. He put the trap with the skunk in it into the back of his pickup. He took it to work and turned the skunk loose in the shop at 3:00 a.m. The skunk got into more trouble than you can imagine. I think my Dad's only regret was that he wasn't around to watch the results of his joke.

My mother's uncle was a surveyor in the west whose hobby was taxidermy. One morning they were surveying in the mountains and were confronted by an angry badger. He hit the badger in the head with a shovel, killing it instantly. He decided to take the dead badger home and stuff it, so he took it back to the car and put it in the back seat.

When they finished for the day, they went back to the car and found that the badger had only been stunned. It had regained consciousness and had destroyed the car. It ripped all of the upholstery out of the seats and pulled all the wiring out from under the dash. Somehow it got out of the car.

The car was not operational after the badger finished with it, so they had to walk back to town.
