Just talked to son and they have two fires within six miles of the house, uncontrolled. Power’s down so they also have no water.

He said they had the well back up with a generator. Not that water hoses will do much good against a wildfire, but at least that’s something.
He just built that house a couple of years ago. It’s rock and stucco with a metal roof so it’ll take more that a spark.

Good news/bad news. The good news is that the race will most likely happen on Tuesday. The bad news is that it may not be in the morning, once again due to weather. Current weather reports has the afternoon looking iffy, about 50/50.
Finally got son, they’re OK and have power back on now.
Fires are partially contained.

Tuesday morning is a travel day. Might catch the last part of the race as it starts “early” here on the West Coast...

Hopefully they’ll get them all under control. Wind is still out of the north down here with a slight smell of smoke and a definite haze.
Glad to hear the pressure has eased on your son and his family. Today is a big let down for me as it’s not the same when a holiday is like any other day if you’re retired
