I’m curious. Let’s say that I file a civil suit against you in order to obtain your social security number. Would you have a problem with that? If not, why not?

*******

I don't understand why you would want to sue me in court just to see my Social Security number or my Social Security application, when under normal circumstances, I would show you my number in private if you simply asked me to show it to you.

For instance, as you may know, for many years, a state driver's license had your Social Security number on it.

So, if you were a clerk in a store who wanted me to show you some identification, I would have simply pulled out my driver's license, where you would see my Social Security number right there. No big deal.

NOTE: I checked the Social Security site, and I can get a copy of my original application for a small fee and with written permission to allow Social Security to send me a copy of my own application. No big deal.

That was not an answer to the question.
