When I first arrived in South Korea there had been an incident where a South Korean fell asleep on guard duty in the ammo dump.

His Lt didn’t even wake him up, just put a bullet in his head.

I had a similar experience except the sleeping Korean was beheaded by an infiltrator. We found him the next morning with his head on upside down and backwards. I had trouble falling asleep anywhere for about 6 mos. afterward.

During basic training near Shechem in Israel I remember guarding in an isolated watchtower with another recruit. He unapologetically went to sleep during our shift and invited me to take turns with him. I declined and resented him putting the both of us at greater risk of attack. I didn’t rat on him but to this day I am upset he did that,
