“Criminal by Fiona Apple”

Ohmigosh I love that song.

For sappy ones it’s got to be “Angel of the Morning”, but I blame my brother for getting me hooked on that.

For politically misguided tunes it’s definitely “How Can we Dance (when our beds are burning)? by Midnight Oil.

And for overplayed 80s radio tunes I have 2 “Safety Dance” and “Tainted Love”.

My brother really convinced me that cr*ppy music has its place, and he actually edited a veddy high brow classical music publication. He liked good music and bad, but he wasn’t a rock & roll guy.

The freaky looking lead singer of Midnight Oil is a Christian pastor now, active in Australian conservative circles.

I always loved “Blue Sky Mine,” talk about outrage set to song. Great video, too.

Midnight Oil’s followup single, “The Dead Heart” is even better, but didn’t sell nnearly as well in the States.
