this is the same site and writer who was posted on here yesterday saying that the 3/5 compromise in the US constitution had to do with the Founders believing that blacks were less than human.
OV is being attacked for an article he wrote about Obama wanting to start a race war. [
Obama Sets Up America for Helter Skelter 2012 Summer] It's all over the 3/5 rule that many misunderstood his reasoning for adding it to his article. Before rumors spread, I thought I would take the liberty of pinging you all to his defense.
You are wrong1raider1, I read
OneVike's article, and he never suggested or even alluded to what you claim he said. I think you owe him an apology, because he is a freeper with a long history here with good standing, and a good following of freepers who read his articles.
OV was writing about white Americans attitude towards blacks, not the governments attitude. Like it or not he was right in that many white Americans did consider blacks less than human. It is undeniable that many did.
OV did however state in a comment that he wished he had left the whole sentence out because it just caused everyone to get distracted from his point about Obama wanting a race war next year.[
comment #61 to Eva]
To claim OV said the government, and the Founding Fathers thought so is wrong because he never even mentioned the Founding Fathers in his column. He also never said that the site he writes for is Glen Becks, I searched his comments and he never said that.
Heck, my own ancestors thought they were less than human. I know because they owned slaves. They were wrong, but I will not deny what they wrote and stated in their journals I have read.
I am off to church myself, but as a close and personal friend of OV, I felt compelled to alert you all to his defense.

I am sorry that I said OneVike said that NewsBlaze was Glenn Beck's site. It was, in fact, Amos McCoy who said that. That being said, One Vike did state in the opening of his post that {Obama is) "a man who hails from the very class of people that was once considered only 3/4 human". You can deny all you want, but I believe OneVike meant that this statement refers to the official position of the US at that time.

>> It’s all over the 3/5 rule that many misunderstood his reasoning for adding it to his article.
If he had just said that white people used to think that black people were less than human, then he wouldn’t be in so much trouble. It was the use of the often misused “3/5” figure that caused the uproar. Even if your slave-owning ancestors thought blacks as being less human than they were, did they actually quantify how much less human they were and calculate the number to be 60%?? Do their journals show the formula they used? Did they show their work?
I’m a fan of One Vike’s writing, but he really did step in it this time. Refusing to admit his mistake and then sending in apologists is not going to help him regain the high level of credibility he has on FR.

Personally, the definition of that word slave got stuck to a specific time period. Now, as of today how much money does each and every American owe as result of ‘government’ borrowing and spending? Who owns US now?

I’ve read some of OneVike’s writing, and a quick sample of yours is above; I’ll defend neither.

Some whites may have thought blacks sub-human, but “enlightened thought “in the 18th Century, such as that of Jefferson, merely thought of them as a “lesser breed.” People had a keen sense of hierarchy which present day people embued in egalitarianism, don’t seem to get. So Jefferson, in his “Notes,” classified people in accordance with the crude anthropolgy of the day. So whites were on top.,Indians next and blacks on the bottom. Nineteenth century Americans made finer distinctions. “Whites,” that is British were on top, then came the Germans, the French, the Irish, the Jews, Greeks, Italians, and then the “brown races,”andf the “yellow” races. with again the blacks down lowest. But only those caught up in the depths of race hatred, or racial arrogance actually thought anyone was “sub-human.”

We have more than our share of Race Baiters here, and it appears that 1rader1 may be one of them.
This thin-skinned racebaiterism has no place here.
