Tony is quiet about his politics but a very conservative guy, from what I hear.
Condolences to tony.
Have been a huge fan since the release of David Grisman’s first quintet album in the 70s.
Hope to be seeing him in November with Peter Rowan and Del McCoury’s sons.
omg, prayers
What?
When?
Where?
I'll spot you the why.
As a motorcycle owner and enthusiast, let me quote my doctor regarding motorcycle owners.
"Motorcycle Rider = Organ Donor.
OH MY! this is awful. We know Tony. Have played music at some of the same venues in the past. Prayers for Tony and family. Have a daughter who was crippled for life by Motorcycle accident. Dangerous machines.
Prayers up for him, his son, and his family.
Very sad, prayers for Tony and his son.
I remember attending many DG Quintet concerts in the 70’s, what a fantastic string band! One concert they opened for “Asleep at the Wheel”, now that was fun night.

Prayers for him and his loved ones...
That is sad. Been listening to his music since the 70’s.
Stepson.
Huge fan. Very sorry for Mr. Rice and his family.
Very interesting posting. Probably 99% of FRs don’t even know who Tony Rice is, so I for one appreciate this, as I would never have known about this tragedy. In my mind he is probably one of America’s most gifted guitarists. Clarence White handed him the torch.
That's been one of my favorite albums for more than 30 years.
Prayers for Tony and his family.
May God grant him comfort, nothing worse then losing a child. It’s not supposed to be that way and it always hurts the most.

Wow, that must have been a great evening! Our mando player has similar chops to Grisman, can play any style, unlike a lot of the Grand Ole Opry/bluegrass purists. It’s great fun to see the reaction when he goes to town on “Moondance”!
Prayers for Tony and family

Literally. The Martin D28 Tony used to (maybe still does occasionally) tour with was Clarence’s. Martin has a Large Soundhole Vintage series modeled after Clarence’s, now Tony’s, D28. The large soundhole? Was enlarged because of damage caused by cigarettes and the road (IIRC).
It was not a conscious design decision.
You must have one hot mandolin player!
I am in the enviable position of having an embarrassment of musical riches: everybody in my band is better at their instrument than I am and I’m just thankful they keep agreeing to play with me.
