I've just been here a few days but I want to tell you I love this site. It is the best source of news, analysis, and intelligent discussion that I've found on the net.
I do have one question. Why do we allow the Liberals to get away with using the term "Progressive". I just saw this come up on a thread and I figured I'd be hijacking a perfectly good thread to get an answer or I'd get no answers at all. Anyway the liberals love to call themselves "Progressives", why doesn't anyone ever ask what they are trying to progress toward?
Just a little pet peeve of mine.
It doesn't matter whether we will allow them to do it or not.
Whenever a significant percentage of the voting public begins to correctly identify any given name with their policies and intentions, they will change it.
Conservatives are proud to be labeled conservatives. Socialists will do anything to avoid being called socialists because they can't win elections by being honest about their policies and intentions.

Personally I find their successes to be rather frightening.
We got a long fight ahead of us.

Actually Bugs, it’s real simple.
Research has proven that “liberal” is a word that most Americans DO NOT identify with and dislike those associated with it.
“Progressive” still fools a lot of Americans (not real conservatives), and is far more acceptable to the ignorant and independents.
A key tactic of Communism and liberals is to get rid of words that alienate, and use new words that do not offend. I.e., get rid of “homosexual”, replace with “gay”. Don’t use “taxes” because most who pay them are against them, but replace with “revenues”, a word that has a good response.
Or redefine words, like “marriage”.
Welcome....yeah, probably the best site anywhere for what’s really going on in the world is right here.......

Hi...Welcome to FR!
“Just a little pet peeve of mine.”
Not to change the subject, but speaking of pet peeves:
Why do conservative talking heads insist on referring to them as the “democratic” party? That word helps to instill that dims are fair and want what’s good for the country - when their plans are nothing but disastrous for the country!
“What is your position on cheese? ... do you have a sister?”
Most importantly, has your sister ever been bitten by a moose while she was holding a piece of cheese!
You know I read somewhere, I can’t remember where, that when the KGB archives were opened up they showed that everyone McCarthy said was a communist really was a communist. You rarely hear McCarthy mentioned anymore.
Pre-1920, “Communist” was used to mean communist.
Post-1920, As Lenin and Stalin killed more and more people, communists started to use the term “progressive”, because too many people knew what “communist” was all about.
Post-1940, Too many progressives were too clear that “progressives” and “communists” were the same people. “Liberal” was then invented.
Post 1950, Liberal continued to be used by communists within the Democratic Party who worked on 5th column tactics against the U.S. Constitution. However, the hard-overs went to referring to each other by the euphemism “fellow-travelor”.
Post 1991, the USSR finally fell and with it the clear, daily reminder of the evils of communism. Also by this time, “Liberal” was well understood by the populace and had become a disparaging term. The Left then, probably via the academic neo-communist movement, reattached itself to the old term “progressive” liking the nostalgia of it and thinking that everyone was historically ignorant.
Personally, I like the fact that Progressives self-identify themselves as communists by using the term. Most of them are now not that uncomfortable with straight “communist” either.
Why aren’t we calling them on it?
LOL yes but the connotation is that progress means things are moving forward, improving, and building higher. I think we conservatives need to keep pointing out that they are progressing toward communism.
We all know it. Most people don’t otherwise no Democrat would ever be elected.
Could be, but as a White male, I kind of feel like they are trying to eliminate me and my kind first.
Thank you
“Progressive” is their disguise word for “flaming radical communist”
I use the term, “Marxist.”
