Google has undergone 2 major updates since June 1 (one in early June, one in late July).

Although the code from the Google site is valid, there are some bugs in some versions of Internet Explorer which the Google code seems to trip on.

So some things on Google don't work well with IE. The actual bugs are in IE, but Google isn't going out of their way to avoid those bugs any more.

Yes, that make sense. It had occured to me that this might be some sort of Microsoft vs. Google thing. I searched FR to see if there were any other mentions of the problem before I posted this thread. Didn't see any.

I've seen this problem since yesterday afternoon. As you may know, MS pushed out a big update chain on 11 August. Perhaps this had something to do with it.
