President Obama will host an Iftar dinner to celebrate Ramadan at the White House Wednesday evening.
Controversy had surrounded last year’s Ramadan dinner at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. – the second one hosted by Obama – when the president expressed his support for a plan to build a mosque near ground zero in New York City.

According to the White House, “elected officials, religious and grassroots leaders in the Muslim American community, and leaders of diverse faiths” have been invited to Wednesday’s dinner. By late Tuesday, White House officials wouldn’t provide any names of expected guests.
Obama’s remarks in the State Dining Room will be pooled.

Someone commented that last ramadan he was not wearing his wedding ring (apparently something done by muslims during ramadan). The White House explained it was simply sent out for cleaning.

Last week was at the US Consulate in Cebu City, Philippines, there is a small library, on display is a 8 volume set of the Koran.
I was there last July and the volumes were not there. Asked the secretary where they came from and she said the US Embassy in Manila sent them.
