Imagine getting a friend's advice on a personal problem and being safe in the knowledge that it would be impossible for your friend to divulge the question, or even his own reply....

WTF?!? Impossible??? The friend could not simply right down the question on a piece of paper and post in anywhere on the internet?

They mean electronically. Not in a real life sense.

The data on the screen is encrypted and could not be shared in a digital form from the source.

I think what they are saying is that the friend couldn’t bring up what they just sent. For example, if you say you never got my email, I can forward my email to you for “proof”. In the scenario described, once I sent that email to you I lost access to that email.

I know they aren’t talking about email, but just using that as an easier point to make.
