Don’t think there are any players left in the LBJ family that she is trying to embarrass.
Don’t think she is trying to jumpstart a failed political career and if she were, this would seem a funny way to go about doing it.
Caroline is really a very private person and presumably not someone who is an attention whore.
Absent any new information, I’ll go with the most handy explanation is that there is a need for cash and this is a convenient way to raise same. Cash which would go directly to here side of the family and wouldn’t have to be split umpteen ways.
Well there is one more thing that I just thought of. Robert Caro should be getting round to wrapping up his fourth and final installment of his LBJ biography covering the events of 1960 onwards. When this is due to come out I don’t know but it’s definitely been in the works for some time. Possible connection? I don’t know. But Caroline may still have some book industry contacts left over from her mother, and Caro is a New Yorker so who knows.
