Was he a hero or just full of himself and Pooh?
I always figured it was a scam to get him out of combat.
Did people get PHs for minor stuff, sure, I knew a guy
in my outfit who tripped on a pallet and broke his ankle
but it was during an attack on the base so he got a PH.
Kerry seems to me to be one of those sea lawyer types
who had plans for the future and a little glory would
help, he was aware of the JFK myth certainly.
Then he decided the antiwar position was a winner and
went with that. I have no respect for the fellow.
