When he was growing up..EVERYONE in Texas was a Democrat..
"Cheerleader" is not the correct term..he was a "Yell Leader" and anyone who has ever attended a football game at College Station will tell you that's a far different thing..

Actually, back in those days, everyone in Texas was a dim. You couldn't get elected to pooper scooper with an (R) behind your name. Read up on the Texas Reagan Revolution. Back then Texas was considered a swing state. Name one statewide official in Texas with a (d) behind his or her name. You can't, because there isn't one.

I’m a Texan, and not a big supporter of Perry. Having said that, I think I need to point out to you that Perry was a “yell leader” at Texas A&M, which was an all male school in his day. They only had male “yell leaders” and they were very masculine guys.
